CM Punk is not part of All Elite Wrestling anymore. The veteran wrestler was fired yesterday and the company confirmed the news through an official statement and a speech by Tony Khan, who also made an appearance before AEW Collision to explain what happened.
The dismissal has been a hotly debated topic in recent hours and the details about his departure have been scrutinized closely. One of those who has spoken the most is Dave Meltzer, a journalist for Wrestling Observer. In his last radio program, Meltzer has assured that he will give more information about what happened over the next week, although he has pointed out that several people from the company have indicated that CM Punk not only pounced on Tony Khan, but that there was something else that led to the firing.
While discussing what happened and Punk's future with Bryan Alvarez, Meltzer did not rule out the possibility of CM Punk being hired by WWE. According to Meltzer, CM Punk wanted to return to WWE 10 months ago, which coincided with his hiatus from All Elite Wrestling, around November or December, a few weeks after his backstage fight at AEW All Out.
